Dr. Sebastián Ospina Henao

Graduated in Medicine and Surgery from the University of Medical Sciences (UCIMED). Currently serves as Medical Research Coordinator at the Institute of Medical Sciences Research. He has participated in over 20 biomedical research studies, both interventional and observational, in roles ranging from sub-investigator to principal investigator. His work spans areas such as vaccination, immunization program management, and clinical epidemiology.

PharmD. Adriana Bolaños Carpio

The pharmacist graduated from the University of Costa Rica and currently pursuing a Master's in Public Health at the same institution. She has studies in Project Management and Quality Audit from the Technological Institute of Costa Rica. Her experience includes roles as Clinical Research Monitor, Clinical Operations Manager, and Medical Evidence Leader in projects across various therapeutic areas. She has also worked in Pharmacovigilance and Medical Information. She is a national and international speaker in these fields and a lecturer in Pharmacoepidemiology and Pharmacovigilance at UCIMED. She also participates in the National Pharmacovigilance Committee and has been a member of APROBIOMED since 2023.

Dra. María José Morales Calderón
Palliative Care Physician graduated from the University of Costa Rica and Master in Health Services Administration from the Central American Institute of Administration. Since 2013, she has served as Assistant Specialist Physician in palliative medicine at the Dr. Max Peralta Jiménez Hospital, Cartago, Costa Rica. Her academic contribution includes teaching at multiple universities and directing national and international symposia. Focusing on therapeutic futility, she applies criteria and legislation for clinical decisions in critical patients.

Dra. María Luisa Ávila Agüero
Pediatric Infectious Disease Specialist, Head of Infectious Diseases Service at the "Dr. Carlos Sáenz Herrera" National Children's Hospital in San José, Costa Rica. Former Minister of Health from 2006 to 2011. Associate Professor of Pediatrics and Director of Pediatric Infectious Disease Postgraduate Program at the University of Costa Rica. Member of the National Academy of Medicine of Costa Rica since 2015 and the Council of the International Society for Infectious Diseases from 2016 to 2022. Currently, she is an Associate Researcher at ICIMED-UCIMED and Affiliated Researcher at Yale University's CIDMA since 2018.

Dra. Adriana Estrada Norza

Specialist in pediatrics with extensive experience at the Dr. Carlos Sáenz Herrera National Children's Hospital. Holds a Master's in Early Stimulation and a diploma in Hospital Management. Has worked in various roles within the public and private sectors, including hospitals under CCSS and private clinics. Researcher at the Institute of Medical Sciences Research at UCIMED, specializing in statistics, mathematics, and educational research. Holds a degree in Mathematical Education, a Master's in Statistics focusing on population, and a PhD in Education. With over 50 published articles and participation in numerous academic events, he has extensive experience in higher education. He has taught at the University of Costa Rica, the National University of Costa Rica, and the Distance State University, and has held positions such as Deputy Director of the School of Mathematics and President of the Electoral Tribunal at the National University.

Holds a degree in Biomedical Engineering from ULATINA and a Master's in Administration with emphasis on Operations Management from ULACIT. Previously served as Coordinator in the Department of Bioengineering at UCIMED. Recognized for actively promoting alliances between industry, academia, and government to strengthen the Medical Devices ecosystem in the country.

Dra. Karla Mora Rodríguez
Neurology Specialist and Epilepsy Subspecialist, University of South Florida, Tampa, Florida, United States of America
Currently pursuing ACGME subspecialty training in Neurology at the University of South Florida, with a Subspecialty from the University of South Carolina School of Medicine. Previously worked as a resident physician at the Rafael Ángel Calderón Guardia Hospital of the Caja Costarricense del Seguro Social. From 2017 to 2021, she was a professor of Neurology specialization at the University of Medical Sciences (UCIMED), and since 2011, she has accumulated over 15 significant medical research contributions in her role as a researcher.

Head of Clinical Operations at Roche. Holds a strong academic background with specialization in Medical Immunology and a PhD in Microbiology and Clinical Chemistry from the University of Costa Rica. Her career has focused on clinical operations management, clinical trial management systems, and good clinical practices. She has also worked at Pfizer and Sanofi Pasteur, demonstrating expertise in vaccines and CRO management. Recognized for leadership and commitment to innovation and equity in healthcare access in Latin America.
