Abstract

Analysis of the development of post grade medical degrees in Costa Rica, as well as the development of the health sector at national level and the factors that have influenced the training of specialists and the country's demands in this human resource. Several factors affect its relevance: the change in the demographic pyramid, the advancement of technology in the field of medicine, the increase in the migrant population, and the retirement processes of medical professionals. The result indicates the need to continue with the training of this human resource, relevant to the achievement of meeting the needs that the country requires in the field of health.
