Abstract
To discriminate whether the elevation in an MT is due or not to the presence of a tumor, three criteria are used: 1) Serum concentration of the marker, the greater the concentration of a tumor marker detected in a patient, the greater the probability that it is a malignant tumor, 2) Discard benign pathology and 3) Evolutionary control (perform two or three serial determinations with an interval greater than the half-life plasma of the marker and study these results together) 5.
