Abstract

Developmental dysplasia of the hip can be suspected by performing a complete physical examination and medical history, where signs and important family history can be obtained and indicate some risk factors. Once these results are obtained, the DDH protocol is started. The earlier this pathology is detected, the faster treatment is started, and less long-term sequelae children will present. The most effective radiological method to date for the diagnosis of DDH is ultrasound in <4 months and radiographs in >4 months of age.
