Abstract
In the practice of medicine, it is of vital importance to effectively know and the patient's airway manage, all this due to its preponderance and possible fatal outcome in a case of a critical compromise. Sometimes, depending on the deterioration and the patient's condition, invasive management of said airway is necessary. This is the reason that many standarized techniques and procedures have been created for an adequate approach, such as rapid sequence intubation. This strategy to be carried out in a critically ill patient consists of a series of steps, in which each one is developed from those prior to induction plus the placement of a neuromuscular blocker agent, to the positioning of the endotracheal tube and to certain subsequent care of it.
