Abstract

According to Perlmutter (2015), these surpass us in a 1:10 ratio. Microbiota is the term coined to name the set of microorganisms (mainly bacteria) that inhabit our body, while microbiome refers to the set of genes that have these microorganisms. The microbiota will be affected by several variables, among which the use of antibiotics, food and even the path through which people are born stand out. All these variables will create a unique microbiome for each subject. In accordance with what was stated by Domínguez Bello, et. to the. (2010), when a newborn goes through the vagina of the mother during natural childbirth, it is exposed to bacteria of the genera bifidobacteria and lactobacilli mainly.
