Abstract
Objective: to describe different differential diagnoses of lacrimal duct obstruction. Materials and Methods: bibliographic review and analysis of articles found through the PubMed search engine associated with the topic Results: a total analysis of 23 articles was made on the topics epiphora, drainage dysgenesis lacrimal, dacryostenosis, congenital dacryocystocele and craniofacial malformations associated with obstruction of the tear duct. A review of the epidemiology, clinical presentation, diagnosis, management and complications of each pathology. Conclusions: there are various differential diagnoses of lacrimal duct obstruction that are must know and diagnose early in order to decide on the best treatment, either conservative or lacrimal probing.
