Abstract
International and national epidemiological studies determine that 70% of these patients with substance use disorder present simultaneously or sequentially another mental disorder, dual pathology (Szerman et al., 2012). Some authors consider that this reality is underestimated, which could encompass 100% of these patients. We must take into account the case of tobacco, which until recently was not considered among the disorders due to substance use. The general population that suffers mental disorders presents in more than 50% of the cases a disorder due to the use of substances when tobacco is included, excluded in previous studies (LevRan et al., 2013; Martínez Raga et al., 2013). In addition, this population has a high prevalence at least twice that of the general population of other medical disorders (metabolic, infectious, pneumological, neurological, oncological, etc.).
