Abstract
The open fractures are characterized by a decrease in bone continuity, with exposure to the outside, due to this, they are fragile to complications such as infectious situations. Many of them are due to high energy trauma. Their classification is based on the mechanism of production, soft tissue injury, fracture conformation, and contamination. The priority of timely treatment is to achieve adequate prevention of the infection, as well as the stabilization and consolidation of the fracture, as well as to obtain a restoration in the function of the affected limb with proper management.
