Abstract

This article shows the intervention of a group of volunteer health professionals from the "Military and Hospital Order of Saint Lazarus of Jerusalem" and the University of Medical Sciences (UCIMED), who for 12 hours between August 1 and August 2 in 2019, they supported the medical and physiotherapeutic care of the professionals of the Costa Rican Red Cross located in the post of the “Church Basílica of Angels”, during the pilgrimage known as “La Romería”. A total of 103 patients were attended and the most frequent consultations were: general exhaustion, dehydration, hypothermia or hypoglycemia 34%, lower extremity trauma 15.5% and low back pain 10.6%. People of all ages attend this event, but those who consulted the most were between 11 and 30 years old, for 51% of those attended.
