Abstract

To compare the latency period of the patellar reflex with or without the Jendrassik maneuver. Eight subjects, healthy; with an average of 20 years of age. The study will be performed on the dominant leg of the subject, in the physiology laboratory of the Versalio Guzmán building of the University of Medical Sciences on March 7, 2018. The latency time of the patellar reflex was measured with or without the Jendrassik maneuver. Of the eight subjects a latency of the patellar reflex was obtained without the application of the Jendrassik maneuver is 33.45 ms, while applying the Jendrassik maneuver a latency decrease of 31.28 ms was obtained. The study shows changes produced by the application of the maneuver, however, it was not possible to present a significant decrease in the latency of the patellar reflex.
