Abstract
Femoral head avascular necrosis is a disease that consist in the progressive destruction of bone tissue and its eventual collapse if it´s not treated. Being symptomatic, it manifests pain; but in many occasions it is asymptomatic, therefore obstructing a timely treatment. The conservative and surgical treatment are recommend in its initial stages, but the advances disease requires hip arthroplasty. Its etiology is related to trauma, excessive alcohol and glucocorticoids intake.
