Cefalea cervicogénica secundaria a anomalía estructural del arco posterior de C1-C2: reporte de caso.

Abstract

We present the atypical case of a 37-year-old woman who presented with axial cervical pain associated with cervicogenic headaches, secondary to a pseudoarthrosis caused by a structural anomaly of the posterior arch of C1-C2. A surgical treatment plan was proposed, aimed at resection and reconstruction of the pseudoarthrosis caused by the malformation of the arches of the C1 and C2 cervical vertebrae. Following the procedure, there was improvement in pain intensity and disability index. Therefore, the importance of this case is highlighted, as not all causes of cervical pain are due to degenerative disc disease; thus, a thorough physical examination, accurate diagnosis, and appropriate treatment are key to the effective management of a condition such as the one presented.
