Abstract
Existe un tipo de dolor que llamamos nociceptivo que se relaciona con la activación de nociceptores (terminales nerviosas especializadas) en respuesta a un estímulos químicos, térmicos o mecánicos, el dolor nociceptivo puede ser visceral o somático, el primero se relaciona con la expansión, distensión o isquemia de alguna víscera, tiende a ser difícil de localizar por el paciente y se describe como profundo, por otro lado el dolor de origen somático y se relaciona a huesos, músculos, tendones, ligamentos, articulaciones y piel, el dolor somático puede ser mucho más fácil de localizar por el paciente.
